Worried about your child's hearing? Time to test.

Kids of any age - even babies - can be screened with the specialised equipment and process that Steve and the team at Kidsonic use. Keep in mind, the medical equipment and process used in adult hearing testing is not designed for little ears.

Screening your child's hearing (at daycare or at school, as part of a group) costs $42.50. If you'd like your school or daycare center to run these types of screenings, let us know.

In around 20% of cases, a follow-on testing in our Erina clinic is required. The fee for that appointment is $100 and produces a detailed report for parents and other healhcare professionals in the event that further referrals are needed.

You don't need a referral to book a one on one consultation for your child. However, GPs and paediatricians will often direct parents to book an appointment.

In some cases, we might refer your child on to other medical specialists if required. In this situation, you'll take your child's report with you so the specialist can respond to the diagnosis.

You can easily book brothers and sisters in together to save time.

Children’s hearing should be checked yearly up to the age of age 6, as the physiological structure of an infant makes them highly susceptible to infections, which can result in hearing reduction.

After 6, a hearing test can be conducted as needed, or every alternate year.

If you, or a teacher, notice new challenges with behaviour or learning, it might be worth a quick hearing test.

Local preschools, daycares and schools conduct group hearing screening tests for their kids. If you'd like us to get in touch with your kid's school, let us know. 

For individual consultations, you can book an appointment at our clinic in Erina Fair Medical Center. We currently make appointments on the first Saturday of every month, but can occasionally take bookings at other times. Reach out via our Contact Us page if you'd like to make an appointment but cannot make the first Saturday of the month.   

Although testing is accurate in normal circumstances, it doesn't always indicate whether hearing loss is temporary or permanent.

Testing is a ‘snapshot’ of the child's hearing which means it may change within days.

For this reason, a diagnosis showing abnormal hearing is sometimes best responded to with a repeat appointment in a few weeks time. This will reveal whether the issue was transitory, or requires further treatment.
